Education Minister Rejects Claims of Preamble Removal from NCERT Textbooks

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has strongly refuted recent allegations that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has removed the Preamble of the Constitution from textbooks for classes 3 and 6. According to Pradhan, these claims are baseless and misleading. He emphasized that, for the first time, NCERT textbooks have been updated under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2024 to include important aspects of the Constitution, such as the Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Fundamental Duties, and the National Anthem.

Pradhan criticized the Congress party for leveraging these allegations to further their political agenda. He accused them of attempting to use educational issues to mislead the public and undermine India's educational progress. The minister asserted that Congress's claims reveal a deep misunderstanding of the Constitution and its values. He also accused the party of attempting to tarnish the reputation of India's education system, which he claimed has been a target of their disdain due to their historical, ideological influences.

In his response, Pradhan condemned what he described as the Congress party’s “disgusting mentality” of using education as a political tool. He urged Congress to stop their “petty politics” and genuinely engage with the principles of the Constitution and the NEP. Pradhan's comments come as part of a broader defence of the NCERT's efforts to align educational content with constitutional values and promote holistic development for students.
